James serves as the Director of Communication Services within Enterprise Information Technology at CPS Energy. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2001. Following his graduation, he embarked on a 24-year career in the electric utility industry with CPS Energy. As a Professional Engineer, James has accumulated extensive experience in electric reliability, power system operations, overhead and underground power distribution, and distributed energy resources. Throughout his career, he has spearheaded numerous innovative projects, including the first distribution-integrated solar farm in San Antonio, the first operational microgrid at JBSA, and the first commercially viable battery energy storage system owned by CPS Energy. Additionally, he has fostered the partnership with UTSA under the Strategic Alliance to advance utility-focused technology. In his current role, he is directing strategic planning efforts to replace the fiber transport system and Private LTE.
