Program Manager
International Society of Automation / ISASecure
Dr. Mark P. DeAngelo is the Program Manager of the ISA Security Compliance Institute and the ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute, commonly referred to as ISASecure® and ISA100 Wireless®, respectively. ISASecure certifies the security of industrial automation and control systems (IACS) and the development lifecycle performed by product suppliers. The ISASecure® designation ensures IACS products conform to ISA/IEC 62443, providing confidence to users while creating product differentiation for suppliers. ISASecure’s ultimate goal is to accelerate standards-based product development practices so that the products are intrinsically secure. ISA100 Wireless is a plant-wide wireless infrastructure technology that improves plant performance, simplifies wireless operations, and reduces costs. ISA100 Wireless certification guarantees resilient standards-based interoperability between vendors.
Previously, Dr. DeAngelo worked as a systems safety engineer working on autonomous systems and commercial derivative aircraft at Boeing Defense, Space & Security. He collaborated with multi-disciplinary teams, analyzed aircraft systems, identified failure conditions, and proposed solutions influencing design decisions, all of which have resulted in successful flight tests of defense aircraft for domestic and international customers.
Before joining Boeing, he worked as the Aerospace Initiatives Manager for SAE International, where he served as SAE’s spokesperson for advanced air mobility standards and integration activities, collaborating with SAE, NASA, FAA, ICAO, international civil aviation authorities and industry. Significant contributions involved the standardization of emerging technologies such as unmanned aircraft systems, autonomy, artificial intelligence, electric aircraft, hybrid propulsion, among others. Participation included international aerospace standards committees, the NASA Transformative Vertical Flight, NASA AAM, FAA Rulemaking Committees, co-chairing/co-authoring the ANSI UAS Standards Collaborative Roadmap, and many speaking roles at aerospace conferences and workshops. During his career at SAE International, his team established 37 new international standards committees attracting over 3500 new volunteers.
He earned a B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. in aerospace engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
