This session examines how utilities can build, maintain, and manage the physical communications infrastructure supporting their internal operational networks, including structures for SCADA, grid monitoring, substation communications, protection systems, and dispatch coordination. Presenters from Engineered Tower Solutions (ETS) and Duke Energy will address the full lifecycle of utility communications sites, from new site engineering and construction through scheduled TIA-compliant inspections and ongoing maintenance programs. The session will explore the Engineer of Record model as the foundation for consistent structural oversight, and will include a utility perspective from Duke Energy on the tangible benefits of a long-term infrastructure management partnership.
