Robin Smyth is the Principal Engineer GP&A and also serves as one of the company’s principal engineers specializes in telecommunications system design and implementation. Mr. Smyth’s 17 years of electric utility experience and 25 plus years of consulting to a wide variety telecommunication operating companies and agencies utilizing wired and wireless systems provides a broad cross section of communications experience and applied knowledge. Mr. Smyth’s 35 years of helping utilities, design and implement analog and digital microwave systems, fiber optic systems and terminals, mobile radio system upgrades and point multi-point wireless data systems makes him a sought after consultant for many UTC member utilities and partners. Mr. Smyth is a unique resource who, having worked with electric system control and protective relaying, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Stand-by Generation, and communications, understands the importance of Critical Infrastructure and Smart Grid communications.
