Andres Chavarria is the Market Development Manager for Fiber Sensing at VIAVI Solutions. He leads technical and strategic growth initiatives for advanced fiber optic sensing technologies across multiple sectors. His focus is the use of distributed fiber sensors within telecom, utilities, energy and engineering applications. Most recently he was the Technical Director at Luna Innovations leading technical and business development teams within various verticals. He has over 20 years of experience with conventional and fiber optic sensing solutions for geophysical, earth science and infrastructure monitoring applications. He was the Technical Director at OptaSense where he was responsible for the geophysical and Oil & Gas sectors. He was the Geophysical Processing Manager at SR2020 and Paulsson. Dr. Chavarria holds a B.Sc in seismic engineering from the National University (UNAM) in Mexico, and a PhD. degree in Geophysics from Duke University.
